In 2021, the team at Siren Stories released our first independent feature film, Hollowhood. Written and directed by JJ Barnes and Jonathan McKinney, the film also features an electic soundtrack featuring many Siren Stories artists, and a full orchestral score written and recorded by Jonathan McKinney.

Olivia and her ex-girlfriend Penny are reuniting for their friend Natasha’s Halloween weekend away in Hollowhood. At first Olivia dreams of reigniting the love she and Penny shared, but the creepy locals, the peculiar priest, and a man whose wife went missing five years ago change those plans. Soon Olivia isn’t focussed on whether she and Penny can fall back in love, she’s focussed on whether she and Penny can survive.
Jonathan McKinney
Award winning, UK based entertainment agency, Siren Stories, was founded in 2016 by duo Barnes And McKinney, JJ Barnes and Jonathan McKinney. Wanting to find a way to be independent with their creative work, they decided the best way was to start a business that incorporated all their career goals, and allowed them to make decisions about their own lives.
Initially, they worked only with one another. But as the company grew, and Barnes and McKinney were able to accomplish more, they found other creatives were interested in their business model. Soon, they found musicians and authors were coming on board to release their original work, and actors and performer were signing up to appear in their first feature film, Hollowhood.
Barnes and McKinney met in 2014 and their first child together was born in 2016. Since then, they have lived and worked together from their home in Staffordshire.
Jonathan McKinney is the producer and composer behind all music released from Siren Stories. As well as working with the Siren Stories artists, he has multiple releases of his own, and produces backing tracks for aspiring musicians to learn from on his YouTube Channel.
Hollowhood Original Score
The score to Hollowhood is a dynamic, often haunting, occasioanally bombastic creation, perfectly suited to the goofy horror style of the film itself. Written and recorded by Jonathan himself, he spoke of the experience writing the music in a recent interview on The Table Read magazine.
The Hollowhood Original Motion Picture Score is currently streaming on YouTube and Spotify, with more platforms being added in the near future.
